Mixing

Mixing equipment is used to combine at least two separate raw materials into a slurry with the aid of a rotating tool. The process requires active materials, conductive additives, solvents, and binders, and can involve dry mixing or wet dispersing. To prevent gas inclusions, mixing can be performed under vacuum. The sequence of mixing and dispersing is tailored to the specific electrode design. Once the slurry is prepared, it is transported to the coating process via pipework or sealed storage tanks. Many cell manufacturers source active materials, conductive additives, solvents, and binders as purchased components.
